New Hair... New Journey 2018!!!

Happy New Year Love bugs!!!

First off... I know that I have been gone since like .....what.... 2014...2015??? Yeah... I have had lots of things going on in my life. As I am certain you guys have experienced yourself. Life throws you curve balls, and all you can do is try and either hit those suckers out of the park... or wait until you can handle a regular ball that may come your way.

So... normally people have New Years Resolutions at the start of the New Year. And naturally 3 weeks into the new program they forget everything they started out trying to do. New Year New Me goes straight out the window, gym memberships lapse, people stop talking to their parents... you know... all that good stuff.

In my case however... On January 1st 2017... I change my hairstyle. PERMANENTLY !!! What do you mean you changed your hair permanently??? Well... let me further explain.

Towards the end of 2016, I had been looking into the natural hair process called Sisterlocks. Sisterlocks is a kind of dreadlocks or Loc's hairstyle in which you have very small locs. This hair care program if you will is installed by trained/ certified sisterlock consultants or sisterlock qualified traine's. There is a very specific manner in which the loc's are installed. The most definitive representation of sisterlocks is the specific grid pattern used while installing the locs.  The cost for sisterlocks installation depends upon the location (state/ region/country) in which you are getting your hair done, how much hair you are starting your process with, and how thick/dense your hair is, hair texture ... so on and so fourth. It may take up to 1-3 days to complete the installation process. The beginning of this hair care regiment can be rather expensive. So... I did my research, got a couple of sisterlock installation quotes and decided.... I love the way sisterlocks look, and ideally I would pay to have the process started and maintained by a professional, but... I do not have the $2,000+ necessary to get started. So I commited to doing what I always do. I went to Youtube University and began to study the various processes in how to install small loc's.

After committing to the process, on December 6th, 2016 I began to install small locs using the two strand twist method and interlocking the roots of the twists with a crochet hook. By January 1st, 2017 I had officially installed 416 miniature two strand twists with interlocked roots. And thus... began my journey into having loc's!!!

Now... let's fast forward to January 1st, 2018. My loc-a-versary date. As of New Years day, I have had my hair in a state of developing permanent loc's for a complete year now. Up to this point, this has been the very best hair decision I could have ever made. I no longer have to detangle my hair, I no longer have to worry about hair care products ( because all I need to use on my hair is a clear shampoo and keep my hair and scalp moisturized throughout the week ). I no longer have to comb my hair, I no longer brush my hair. I do not even have to worry about what my hair looks like because I can just jump in the shower, wash my hair and keep it moving!!! What a refreshing way to live!!!

So... from this day forth... my hair journey will be talking about the process of loving my small locs, and how my hair lifestyle has changed for the better.

Here are some pictures from the beginning of my process , up to now!!! Please enjoy!!!
